5 Facts on DACA program- daca

1.The Removal of DACA ( Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals).

2.What is going on with DACA? On September 5th President Donald trump ordered to end DACA and called on congress to act upon it. This was a five year old policy introduced by President Barack Obama and served as a way for undocumented children to gain amnesty in order to go through school and such. Trump Stated that those who are in this country illegally are lawbreakers who hurt native born citizens. We urge you to take a stand on this issue and to make a decision on what you support.

3. Our general audience is anyone in the United States because although we will first focus locally , we believe this is a topic that everyone should pay attention to. The reason we are asking people to make a decision for themselves is because we think we can provide enough information and statistics to convince the audience. Some of these children were brought over to the United States at a young age and that was not necessarily their choice. They can not suffer from the choice of someone else if they have kept a clean record and done everything right to gain an education or a job. If they have worked to help their families and go through school, they should be allowed to stay. Our goal is to hopefully have the audience agree with us but not to be stagnant. We would like them to take a stand and help fight this with us. daca

Segmentation may be used for certain demographics, although we could use the same message to reach anyone because we believe that our message should capture the attention of everyone listening. We could take geographic differences into consideration, in case there are some counties where there are less Hispanics then others. Allowing us to prepare to explain more to those counties in the state, and how they can relate to this issue that we believe in!

Grounds for Viewing DACA to be a social problem:

The New York Times covered a story on several DACA recipients by describing their reactions and feelings about hearing that they might be deported from the country and lives that they have built for themselves.  Most of the young adults that were interviewed have gone to high school and college in America, and some have gone to graduate school. They have stable jobs with a stable income, and are preparing for their achievable future but have now been told that they may only have 6 months left of the life that they are living.

Majority of the names and headlines of this issue is, “Trump taking away children’s rights”, or “Action to protect the young people of the US.”

Trump’s argument that DACA recipients are a bad influence on the work force and aren’t  capable of being hard workers can be easily discredited with this statistic; a survey released by the left-learning center for American Progress, found that 72% of the top 25 fortune 500 companies employ DACA recipients. And there is around 800,000 undocumented young adults and not all of them are even old enough to work yet.

Additional Grounds about DACA

On September 5th, President Trump ordered an end to the DACA program. Created under President Obama, DACA allowed young adults who were illegally brought to the United States as children to live here without the fear of getting deported. Now that the program could be possibly ending, the whole situation is getting worse. DREAMers (the young adults protected by DACA) are now having to live in fear as their lives could be drastically changing in the next 6 months.

With DACA ending, the main victims are the DREAMers as they are directly affected, but their friends and families can also be affected. For the DREAMers that have kids, their kids would also be affected as they would have to go with their parents to where ever the get deported to. The main villain in this issue would be President Trump as he is the one calling for the end of DACA.

Of the 1.1 million people that are eligible for DACA, about 800,000 are currently in the program. That is 78% of those who are eligible that are currently taking advantage of DACA, but all of their lives could be changing in the near future.

Warrants about DACA:

  1. DACA is removing a policy put in place to grant rights to immigrant children than allow them to go to schools within the United States. Why this is important: DACA was enacted in 2012 and just between then and now that is a five year span. Five years is long enough to finish significant educational milestones. For example: Elementary School, Middle School, and High School. (This is only speaking for those that were protected by DACA and not those that applied for school visas.) United States schooling systems may be these children’s only chance at an education. Removing them from this system may mean the difference between a healthy, and successful future and a detrimental one.
  2. Removing DACA may send children that have never been to their “country of origin” back to a place they do not know. For example: A recent protester for DACA made the news because she was covered under the DACA policy and is not on track to graduate college in a few more semesters. IF DACA is removed, she may be sent back to a country she has never been too. Why this is important: Sending children back to a country they have never been to also has the high likelihood to create a “hard” life for these children who only known America as their home. This means cultural barriers which is extremely detrimental to anyone, especially children because of their lack of ability to understand cultural differences.

These reasons are just two of many that can be used to address our issue. This issue can be considered cultural and political. Which have the ability to reach out to several different social organizations. However, these warrants should be enough to address our issue with audience segmentation. These reasons should appeal to our country as a whole. Even though this issue only really affects immigrants, it should still be considered a very controversial and unfair issue in our society. Which should warrant a change. la-1504634137-bbwo4yzwt6-snap-image

7. Conclusions: Because of the fact that some of these children were brought  to the United States at a young age without it being their choice. They should not suffer from the decision of someone else especially if they have kept a clean record and a steady job. Citizens of the United States should come together and do campaigns to inform people of not only what DACA is but that undocumented children do not come over to the United States to do bad things, they just want to get an education like everyone else.

As was stated earlier in the blog we could take geographic differences into consideration  in case there are some countries where there are less Hispanics than others. Allowing us to prepare to explain more to those counties in the state, and how they can relate to this issue that we believe in. By doing this it will help capture more peoples attention on the issue.
